IN REAL LIFE - Scripps News

We were tasked with rebranding the Scripps News show “In Real Life,” a longform documentary show that features a variety of subjects from around the world. We wanted to steer away from digital media and make the show feel like an established journalism entity, so we used aesthetics that evoke a sense of printed material, paper, ink, imperfections and grit.
We were inspired by risograph printing to develop a technique that mimics the color separation and overprinting imperfections.

Thanks in part to the new aesthetic and infographics, “In Real Life” won it’s first Emmy for the episode “Plastic Time Bomb.”
